Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can a beginner do theses classes?

Yes, a beginner can do these classes. Every pose will be shown with modifications to accommodate your comfort level. You should be cleared by your health care professional to start yoga and know that there will be intermediate level poses offered in the class. These are not mandatory to participate in of course but the class will have poses that require stamina if you wish to try them. Please keep in mind this yoga is therapeutic in nature.

  2. What do you mean by therapeutic yoga?

I refer to my style of yoga as therapeutic as my practice merges western understanding of anatomy and physiology with an emerging understanding of eastern yogic practices. I will never teach anything I do not have extensive knowledge of or have not studied at a primary source. In this style of yoga, the way we get to the final form in a pose, including what is safe and comfortable for the individual, is much more important than what the pose looks like in it’s finality.

  3. What style of yoga do you do?

My style is a blend of Hatha and Vinyasa. Every class will start with breathwork, move into a warm-up, then a flow and then we will explore our peak poses, followed by Savasana, the final resting pose at the end of practice.

  4. Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?

No. Do not let your current belief about your body’s flexibility (or lack thereof) stop you. This is about moving and even if that movement is small right now you can do yoga.

  5. Is the class hot?

No, the class is not heated above normal room temperature. We will be working hard enough though to create heat in our bodies.

  6. What do I need to bring?

Water and a sweatshirt or towel if you like to be covered in the final resting pose. I recommend bringing your own mat but I can provide one for those who need one. Please let me know. I have blocks and straps for everyone.
